The Sonnet Echo Express III-D is a desktop Thunderbolt-to-PCIe card expansion chassis that enables the connection of three professional video capture, audio interface, SAS or SATA HBA, 16Gb or 8Gb Fibre Channel, 10Gigabit Ethernet, and RAID controller PCIe cards to any Mac with a Thunderbolt port. Sonnet has designed Echo Express III-D to support every Thunderbolt-compatible card supported.
Echo Express III-D features 20Gbps Thunderbolt 2 technology with the necessary bandwidth to support many high performance PCIe cards. It is also fully compatible with computers with 10Gbps Thunderbolt technology, supporting the majority of cards at full-performance. Two Thunderbolt ports support daisy chaining of up to six devices to a single port on your computer. The III-D can host up to three full-size PCIe cards, up to 12.28-inch-inch (full-length), which enables the unit to fully support Avid Pro Tools|HDX and Red Rocket. Sonnet has designed the Echo Express III-D to accommodate the card/bracket pair of Red Rocket in a single slot.
The Echo Express III-D has been designed to be eco friendly with features that automatically power the unit on or off whenever the connected computer powers on or wakes, or powers off or sleeps, respectively. A universal 300W power supply is included, in addition to a 75W PCIe power connector for cards that require supplementary power. Three large, slow spinning fans are also featured for ultra-quite operation.
Echo Express III is available in two versions, the Echo Express III-D (desktop) and Echo Express III-R (rackmount). It comes with Sonnet’s Pro five-year warranty.
